When Claire and Dave Seeger were looking for a house in North Austin, they knew exactly what they wanted.
So when the newlyweds found the 5-bedroom stone house on a large, tree-shaded lot near U.S. 183 and Duval Road, they made an offer that day. The sellers, who were moving out of Austin, already had reduced the price once and sold the house to them for 6.5 percent less than the asking price. On top of that, the Seegers got a 5.5 percent interest rate on their mortgage.
"I dont think it was planned, but we definitely benefited from the timing," Seeger said. "It was a great time to be looking."
